AFL training injuries need to stop!

This week, Carlton young gun and co-vice captain, Sam Walsh injured his ankle during training and is set to undergo surgery.

A key player in Carlton's lineup and part of their leadership group, out for a couple of weeks. Walsh isn't the first player to be sidelined because of an injury they sustained during training and he certainly won't be the last.

Way to many players are getting injured during trainings, and I get that they have to get their body in shape for games, but when teams are losing so many players due to training injuries then I think something should happen.

I'm not saying that games should be the place where footy players get injured. No one wants to be sidelined and especially have to under go surgery, but with the new concussion rule in place, players shouldn't be sling tackling their own teammates into equipment, like what was seen at Melbourne the other day. I mean now that player can't do any contact training for the next 2 weeks.

At least it's during the break and not during the actual season or else it takes things to another level.

Now we're talking about loss of game time affecting their performance and even affecting their salary in some shape or form.

Athletes of all kinds pay the cost of injuries and the AFL in no different. We all hear about it's how you come back from them that matters. The AFL is a perfect example of this and injuries are a part of the game now, but there are errors and mistakes in all things in life.

Errors are unavoidable like most big injuries in the AFL and then there are mistakes that can be avoided if we take a little more care.

That's all I have to say about this. Sam Walsh will miss the start of the 2022 AFL season and should be back to light training in around a month and start his co-captaincy then.

I'm still unhappy after seeing what happened at Melbourne. It made me go on this rant and get my feelings onto words.

Thanks for reading to the end! I hope you enjoyed it!
