The 2022 AFL practice matches are almost here!

We're living in a day and age where almost everything is live streamed. Even the smallest events are being watched, just because now there is a way to watch them happen in real time.

AFL practice matches are not new. They have been around for ages as a way to ease into the season and for teams to grasp where they're at and what they need to improve on.

Each team plays 2 games at an unusual time, like a Thursday at 11 o'clock. The games are played in a mixture of the home teams training ground and large stadiums.

These are the games that will be played:

Essendon v Western Bulldogs at the Hangar (3.00pm AEDT)

Carlton v St Kilda at Ikon Park (10.00am AEDT)

Melbourne v North Melbourne at Casey Fields (11.00am AEDT)

Brisbane Lions v Adelaide Crows at Metricon Stadium (10.00am AEST)

Gold Coast Suns v Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium (3.00pm AEDT)

Collingwood v Hawthorn at Morwell Recreation Reserve (4.00pm AEDT)

Sydney Swans v GWS Giants at Lavington Oval (6.00pm AEDT)

West Coast Eagles v Fremantle at Optus Stadium (7.40pm AEDT)

Geelong Cats v Richmond at GMHBA Stadium (1.00pm AEDT)

These games are followed by the AAMI community series games the week after, which is similar to the practice matches, just a little more serious.

As a footy fan that loves their team and wants to watch as many games that they play in as possible, I'm really looking forward to the practice matches and actually being able to watch them. Not just look up the score like in previous years.

I know that the quality will look like it's being filmed by someone's phone and it will only be one, slightly elevated angle, but I don't care. I've been living without footy for almost 5 months now and I can't wait for it to start.

Thanks for reading to the end! I hope you enjoyed it!
